Lisa's experience spans private practice, union advocacy and human rights work, including managing the Human Rights Commission's Inquiry into the Pacific Pay Gap. In 2026 she was bestowed the matai title of Savusa by her aiga, who hail from the village of Faleapuna in Samoa. She is a trustee of the Māngere Community Law Centre, reflecting her commitment to access to justice and her understanding of how employment and governance issues intersect.

Having acted for employers, employees and unions, Lisa understands each side of the employment relationship. She helps organisations build policies and processes that create more equitable workplaces, supports employees in understanding and asserting their rights when those protections fall short, and advises unions on bargaining and advocacy on behalf of their members. Where a dispute has already arisen, she looks for pragmatic solutions that resolve it efficiently.

Employment disputes are rarely just legal matters for the people involved. Lisa's approach is people-centred and trauma-informed, recognising the personal impact these processes can have on those going through them.

Lisa has written on ethnic pay disparities and the vulnerabilities of labour hire workers for E-Tangata, The Spinoff and Newsroom.
